SGC CORE STRATEGY - A Brief History

1.) THE DRAFT CORE STRATEGY (published March 2010)
The general public were invited to respond to the DRAFT Core Strategy, which was first published in March but did not become readily accessible until it went on-line in May 2010.

2.) REPRESENTATIONS to SGC (August 2010)
The STGH group encouraged individuals to make personal representations to South Glos. We also submitted our own representation to South Glos as a response to the Core Strategy. You can access any part of this representation by clicking on the appropriate link below.

3.) THE REVISED DRAFT CORE STRATEGY (Published Dec 2010)
The DRAFT Core Strategy was then revised by South Glos, supposedly in the light of the representations they had received back in August. It was re-publishedin December 2010 and once again the public were invited to respond to the CHANGES/REVISIONS that had been made.

4.) SUBMISSION IN RESPONSE TO
CORE STRATEGY REVISION (Feb 2011)
The STGH group  completed and returned a further submission to SGC, following the SG planners REVISION of the Core Strategy and Sustainability Appraisal. If you would like to read any of this submission, please click on the appropriate link below.

5.) "FINAL" VERSION OF CORE STRATEGY PUBLISHED  (MARCH  2011)
Except that it wasn't! In June of 2011 an Independent Government Inspector (Paul Crysell) was appointed to examine the  Core Strategy. Following an initial public Exploratory meeting, he slated the work of SGC and even recommended that they might be better off abandoning it altogether. Read his letter to SGC here.
